You’ve heard of people eating drugs, or shoving them in their nether regions to avoid being busted for possession. But, you may not hear the story of the consequences of ingesting narcotics. Especially, when it’s not even the victim’s drugs.
A report by The State says North Charleston police are looking for a 23-year-old man who investigators say encouraged his younger brother to eat cocaine after they were arrested. The brother died for what he did just an hour later.
Authorities say Deangelo Mitchell posted his bond after his brother’s death, but autopsy results and a review of video from a patrol car led them to new charges…involuntary manslaughter charge.
Police showed a video Monday of the brothers in the back of the cruiser where Mitchell tells his 20-year-old brother he will get life in prison for another drug conviction. He encourages his younger brother to eat the evidence, but warns him that he could die.
A warning that wasn’t loud enough nor threatening enough to send his brother to jail. Life in prison for a drug thug in exchange for a brother’s life?
